Welcome to the home of SEMI Linux, the South East Michigan Linux user group! We are a local group of open source enthusiasts that meet regularly to share our experiences, learn more about our world, and help teach the same. Feel free to post in our forums or comment anywhere you like.
SEMI Linux is growing, moving, and shaking! To continue to pursue our goals of enjoying open source software, education, and sharing our experiences socially we've decided to start meeting in a new location, at i3Detroit the incredibly awesome hacker/maker space in Ferndale! i3Detroit is just one block south of our most recent base of operations, Motor City Free Geek. The new space is much larger and has facilities that we are very excited about, specifically: awesome internet, server and network racks, Printers (both 2D and 3D), laser cutters, electronics lab, a projector, additional interested people, and much more space!
Just a little update here for you to chew on...
We are considering having a rotating location for our 3rd Wednesday of the month meetings. There's a post in the forum about that so take a look and let your voice be heard.
Also we've been mulling over an idea for a while and with some additional enthusiasm we are moving forward with... 'rolling' our own Linux Distro! This should be a very exciting project, we will all get the chance to learn new things are work on creating something together.
For our first educational meetup, this January 16th, we are planning a collaborative talk. Specifically, this will cover basic command line usage. We decided that it would be best to split this topic up a bit so multiple presenters can cover different areas or basic commands.
The 504 error has been taken care of! Users should no longer have an issue registering, submitting comments, resetting passwords, etc.!!
Stay tuned for more functionality!
It happened later than expected, but the suggestion box is open! Simply click the link that says "Submit Suggestion" on the main menu and fill out the form!
Sadly, the suggestion box is also plagued with our 504 timeout error when you hit the 'Submit' button, however, we still receive the request so please submit as many suggestions as you have!
